My Role
As the sole UI/UX Designer on this project, I was responsible for the end-to-end design process — from research and problem definition through to wireframing and high-fidelity UI design. This included designing the full buyer and seller experience, authentication flows, product pages, checkout, and account management screens.
Context
University students frequently face financial pressure, particularly around the cost of textbooks, electronics, and everyday essentials. While platforms like Facebook Marketplace and eBay exist, they are not designed with students in mind — they lack campus-specific trust, are cluttered with irrelevant listings, and can feel unsafe for first-time sellers. KentSwap was conceived as a solution built specifically for the University of Kent community — a dedicated space where students can confidently buy, sell, and swap items with people they share a campus with.

Point of View Statement
University of Kent students need a simple, trusted, and campus-specific marketplace because existing platforms are too broad, complicated, and lack the verification needed to make peer-to-peer student commerce feel safe and relevant.
